Dear Mr. Foo,
I've googled and read some information about you and your relation
with the IF&WMS. I'm writing my Master thesis related to this topic.
My master is focused on the Integrated biosystem in a german brewery.
I really would like to get some information about the roots of the
IBS. When it started to be used, who created it (but nature). Can you
help me with some ground information.
I would be very thankful.
Kindly regards,
Evynature

I coined the phase "Integrated biosystems" as a sub-project for the
Zero Emissions Research Initiative (ZERI) in 1995 when I was working
at the United Nations University (Tokyo). This activity (with me as
the coordinator) led quickly into the IBS network (recruitng members
from my earlier networks on ecocity, biogas, ecological engineering)
with lots of e-conferences and e-seminars organized as well as field
projects on zero emission/waste by breweries in Fiji and Namibia with
George Chan as the technical field officer. After 2000, I joined the
Dept of Biotechnology (Royal Inst of Technology in Stockholm) and
IBSnet joined the IOBB. I had another IBS project with Western Samoa
Breweries. IOBB took IBS further with a conference in Perth on
Biosystems in 2008 and we have the next conference in India in 2010.

I still coordinate IBS activities as an IOBB member.

I am now in Nairobi and doing IBS rabbit meat production projects with
a children home and another with student boarders at a primary and
secondary school.

I hope this info is useful.

regards
jacky.
