Today is the closing of the e-seminar with Mel Landers but I am very
happy to see the last few messages today from Bob Morriss and Daniel
Nagengas and which may help us close this seminar with some productive
results in cooperation. I am (as indicated earlier) in the process of
establishing the Children's Village of Kenya (CVK) with access to at
least 130 acres of land from the Kenyan Ministry of Home Affairs. I
will discuss with Bob, Dan and Mel (and maybe also others) on how your
expertise and organizations could be used as components of a project
at the CVK.
For the closing of this e-seminar and on behalf of all the
participants, I wish to thank Mel Landers for his daily dedication to
go to the Internet Cafe to communicate with us. He has also
re-organized his travels to ensure that his daily I-cafe visits could
be made. This is something which we can all appreciate very much and
that has ensured a continuous flow of a few messages per day.
I also wish to thank Mel for introducing the use of charred materials
to the IOBB Working Group on Integrated Biosystems (organizer of this
e-seminar). Eventhough I later found out that there is a lot of active
discussions and research in the past few years on Terra Preta, "dark
earth soils" is new to this group. I therefore thank Mel Landers for
the introduction.
Before I close the seminar, I would like to suggest to those of you
who wish to learn more about Terra Preta to visit
http://terrapreta.bioenergylists.org/ which serves as the "hub" for
this topic.
I have created a new e-group which will serve as a task force to
further the development of cooperation into concrete projects on
biochar and composting. This will be a closed group. For email users,
the email address is :
bioch...@yahoogroups.com
It has a web interface too :
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/biochar-CC/
I have choosen groups.yahoo as recent updates in the software have
made it much better than groups.google at the web interface level. For
email users, there isnt much difference between the two.
Lastly I wish to thank all the participants for joining the e-seminar.
This e-group will remain open to receive messages and will be archived
in the future at www.iobborg.net
