Dear Rajib Biswas

thank you for your email which I forward to this webforum in order to
get comments from other readers who may work in this area of biogas
from algae.

I would assume that someone must have done some Swedish work (probably
published in Swedish) on this topic using algae harvested from the
Baltic Sea. Your Prof. (Bo Svensson) might be just the best person from
Sweden on this topic. I dont have contacts to people from countries
around the Baltic Sea. You may also know Anders Ek
http://www.iobbnet.org/drupal/node/view/832/2190#comment-2190.

Q: Are you planning to use macro-algae or micro-algae ?
Q: if it is micro-algae, how do you intend to harvest it for your lab
study ?

regards

Subject: Biogas from Algae

I am a master student of Linköping University of Environmental Science
programme, presently doing courses. But I am being forced to report on
my proposed thesis where I have selected an area that is anaerobic
digestion of algae harvested from Baltic sea to investigate the amount
of methane produced. The topic attracted me after getting a primary
idea from my proposed supervisor Bo Svensson who has a plan to work on
this and it is quite virgin field to conduct research. Reasons behind
is the extended eutrophication of parts of the Baltic Sea and that this
would be one way to decrease the burden on the sediments and waters and
may even be a profitable exercise. Now see after going to search
documents that there is nothing in my library databases that could give
me some ideas or helpful. Google also failed to come up with some
papers.

Would you please suggest me, if you have any information about, where
the related research is being conducted, where should I visit to get
ideas!

However, I appreciate your activities and contribution on IOBB.

Wish your all-out cooperation.

Best regards,
Rajib
