Dear Ms. Gjuvteska,
I am working at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
(OECD), notably at the Trento Centre for Local Development. Since, you
participated in earlier events on local development governance organised by
the Centre, I thought you might be interested in attending a 2.5-day capacity
building seminar on how to make local partnerships work
<http://www.oecd.org/document/34/0,3343,en_2649_34455_41040610_1_1_1_1,00.htm
l> , on 10-12 November 2008 in Trento.
We target with this seminar representatives from national and local
governments, chambers of commerce, public employment services and development
agencies, who are already working in an institutionalised partnership with
other organisations or who want to learn more about how to improve
co-operation and integration of policies and local action with regard to
employment, business development and job creation as well as social
inclusion.
The seminar will be structured around a) national support frameworks to
enhance partnership building and working, b) overcoming local challenges and
fragmentation in partnership building, and c) techniques to evaluate the
partnership's value added to policy and local development as well as
practices to improve the performance of a partnership.
We have selected these themes, which emerged from a recent policy development
project on local development governance and partnerships in Croatia, as we
think that an international exchange on these would be beneficial to those
involved in local development. The seminar programme will be structured
around a mix of short presentations by invited experts and OECD staff,
subsequent discussions and work in small teams on OECD good practice and
policy recommendations. In addition, participants will benefit from learning
how peers are making local partnerships work.
Should you be interested in this seminar and could make yourself available to
attend, please respond to this e-mail as soon as possible - we only have a
limited number of places available!
For further information on the seminar or questions you may have, please
contact me.
Best regards,
