Hi ICC members,

Lake Champlain Sea Grant is looking for experts to review species profiles for a new database of aquatic nonindigenous species in (or approaching) the Lake Champlain basin of Vermont, New York, and Quebec. The three crayfish species they're looking for help with are:

Cambarus robustus
Faxonius obscurus
Faxonius rusticus

Please see the forwarded message below for details if you are interested in getting involved; questions can be directed to Kris Stepenuck (kste...@uvm.edu).

Best,
Katie

Subject: Seeking people with knowledge of aquatic nonindigenous species

Hi Sea Grant Extension Assembly,

I am working on a project to develop a database of aquatic nonindigenous species in (or approaching) the Lake Champlain Basin of Vermont, New York, and Quebec. I’m seeking people to assist in reviewing 2-page species profiles about a variety of these species. I wondered if anyone on this list might have knowledge of any of the following species and be willing to review the species profile for that species between now and the end of September? Alternatively, might you know of others who may have expertise about any of these species to whom you might direct me?

This spring, the undergraduate student assisting with this project sent requests to a variety of people in Vermont and beyond based on communications with Meg Modley at the Lake Champlain Basin Program, Wesley Daniel with USGS, and Rochelle Sturtevant at GLERL. Unfortunately, we have yet to find enough willing reviewers for these species, so I’m turning to a broader audience to attempt to find some folks who know about these species who may be willing to do a review. Reviewers will be credited in the database being developed, which is the Lake Champlain version of the GLANSIS database.
