Updated Ontario crayfish guide now features enhanced identification tools
The second edition of the Guide to Ontario Crayfishes, developed by the OFAH Foundation and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources’ Invading Species Awareness Program, now includes a new section on rostrums and areolas–two key features that aid in accurate species identification.
Illinois RiverWatch Crayfish Volunteering Online Video
A new training video teaches volunteers how to participate in Illinois Crayfish Finders, a RiverWatch community science program dedicated to mapping crayfish in Illinois. The video provides background on the importance of crayfish, proper collection techniques, and how to submit photos to their project on iNaturalist.
This selection of invasive crayfish information is collected by the Invasive Crayfish Collaborative, a program convened and facilitated by Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant and the Illinois Natural History Survey with funding from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
