Hello Invasive Crayfish Collaborative Members,
The
2026 State of Lake Michigan Meeting is now accepting abstracts. The meeting, supported in part by Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant, University of Illinois Extension, and Purdue University, will be held November 4–6, 2026 in Michigan City, IN and revives the lake‑specific
format previously hosted by IAGLR.
If you are working on aquatic invasive species (including crayfish!) in and around Lake Michigan,
we encourage you to submit a talk in the meeting's Aquatic Invasive Species session. We welcome submissions that highlight emerging research, innovative management strategies, collaborative projects, and community-engaged approaches that advance understanding
and protection of the Lake Michigan ecosystem. Talks can focus on work done at all stages of the invasion timeline - from prevention and early detection/response, to understanding long-term impacts of established invasive species. Ultimately, we hope to share
lessons of what has (and hasn’t) worked in aquatic invasive species management in the lake and spark discussion on future research and management directions.
Apologies for any cross-postings! Please feel free to forward this information to any colleagues working on AIS in Lake Michigan.
If you have any questions about the AIS session, please don't hesitate to reach out to me (Katie O'Reilly) at
k...@illinois.edu. Thanks for your consideration!
Best,
Katie
