Invasive Crayfish Collaborators,

Please join us for a webinar Tuesday, June 4 at 1:00pm CT/ 2:00pm ET to discuss "Working with Michigan Pet and Pond Retailers to Prevent Aquatic Invasive Species" with Paige Filice from Michigan State University Extension. Paige will highlight retailer engagement techniques, key takeaways from retailer surveys, and a new crayfish outreach item applicable to anyone in the Great Lakes basin who provides invasive crayfish education.

Description: Through the Reduce Invasive Pet and Plant Escapes (RIPPLE) outreach program Michigan pet and pond retailers receive one-on-one store visits, invasive species identification tools, and outreach materials to share with their customers. Surveys conducted in 2017 and 2021 of retailers’ invasive species knowledge and behavior have been used to guide program improvements and the development of creative outreach pieces, such as the new “Great Lakes Almanac to Invasive Crayfish: Identification and Reporting”. Paige Filice from Michigan State University Extension will highlight retailer engagement techniques, key takeaways from retailer surveys, and highlight a new crayfish outreach item applicable to anyone in the Great Lakes basin who provides invasive crayfish education.
