Curt, fear-mongering is winning, and we are losing.
Not only have the governors of 26 states said they will attempt to refuse settling any Syrian refugees in their states, but New York Sen. Charles Schumer--the incoming Democratic Senate leader--has said a "pause" on refugees might be necessary.
If leading Democrats start echoing the fear-mongering and demanding that we refuse refugees, the political tide will get very ugly and remain so for a long-time.
Sign and send a petition to your Democratic U.S. Senator(s) from Colorado, urging them not to echo any right-wing fear-mongering, and instead to support President Obama's efforts to settle Syrian refugees in the United States.
Schumer is not alone. New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan, a Democrat running for Senate in 2016, has said that the U.S. government should halt the acceptance of Syrian refugees.
Other Democrats might step forward, as the so-called "liberal media" is eager to find any Democrat willing to join in the fear-mongering and give them a platform.
For example, an article titled "Obama comes under criticism from Dems over Paris rhetoric," was in published yesterday in The Hill. It only quoted from Democrats who believe President Obama is not sounding bellicose enough in the wake of last week's terrorist attacks.
We can't let any more leading Democrats join in the fear-mongering.
Please Curt, before this gets any worse, sign and send a petition to your Democratic U.S. Senator(s) from Colorado, urging them to reject fear-mongering and to welcome Syrian refugees into the United States.
