Iforgot to mention it in my review, but I loved the riddles too! The butler and the cook definitely gave me Addams Family vibes as well. Interesting, I hadn't thought of it being like Joker and Penguin but you're totally right!
I really enjoyed this movie they combined the courage elements and the scooby doo elements in a good way and I like the fact that they leaned into the courage elements I also like the fact that they are not afraid to get weird like when courage and scooby doo get that dark matter meteorite and that turns courage and scooby doo into different verisons of them self and the same metorite turns the rest of the gang and muriel into random stuff things and it is so weird that I love it I also liked the fact that they leaned into the supernatural too I also like how creepy it can get because of the lighthearted nature of scooby doo but their is some creepy stuff here I also like that they utilized two of courages villain and thank goodness they toned velma down completely I did recall velma starting to get toned down in the sword and the scoob and happy halloween but here they toned her down completely shes still skeptical but at a reasonable level.
If i have any complaints I thought that eustace's rap was cringey I also thought the dance party at the end was also cringey too I also wished the scooby and the gang were involved with the end battle with the queen cicada creature but other than that I loved this movie and I hope that the krypto crossover is on the same level in terms of quality not craziness.
The supernatural stuff was really interesting to me! I guess the monster chair and whatever the creature was by the sink were just real then? I thought it was super cool how they included those two real supernatural monsters. I was also happy that they toned Velma down.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the movie and that it's became one of your favorites!
Me being a Scooby and Courage fan, this movie is a literal dream come true. The team behind this Understood the assignment! I actually felt my eyes tear up a few times, but I got over it lol!
Mystery Inc. seem to really fit in Courage's world and it looked nice. Just like the ScoobyNatural crossover, this was balanced and nothing overpowered the other. Courage, Muriel and Eustace's personalities were exactly how they always were. Except for Courage's computer. It used to be rude and sarcastic but it wasn't in this movie.
They captured the creepy feel of Courage's world perfectly. I'm glad they accepted the weirdness of Nowhere and didn't change it for the sake of Mystery Inc. being there. Like how those chairs just came to life with no explanation at the mayor's house. That's classic Courage! The supernatural was real and the best part was...Velma didn't say NOTHING to ruin it! She just accepted it.
I feel as if this movie was definitely for Courage fans! It took place in Courage's home, there were PLENTY of references to the show. The mayor's home was filled with objects and screenshots from Courage. It was even Courage and Muriel who saved the day in the end. It's like the creative team took into account that we haven't had anything from Courage in years! And I appreciate that.
Katz and LeQuack being the villains was a nice touch as they were the most recurring villains from Courage. I never expected the General and the Lieutenant to show up! That was also a surprise! I also loved how Fred, Daphne and Velma believed that Katz and LeQuack were just a man in a mask and a puppet. They travel with a talking dog, but a talking cat and duck isn't normal lol!
I don't really like dance endings either but this one was special! I saw it as a celebration of these 2 series and it was something fans wanted for a LONG time! And they gave it to us! I even liked the credits and that they did an extended remix to Courage's credits theme.
We need more crossovers like this one!! With another cartoon character! These superhero and celebrity crossovers are fine but we've seen PLENTY of those! Like, Scooby Doo and Batman teamed up how many times... So I hope the movies crossover with more cartoon characters in the future! Maybe more from the Hanna Barbera universe for starters.
I loved this movie and it just became my favorite movie, probably ever! Mostly because I love both franchises. Even though John Dilworth (Courage's creator) didn't work on the movie at all, they still managed to get everything right. I hope we see more of Courage in the future, but sadly as of now, it seems unlikely. Studios don't seem to want to work with Dilworth at the moment so I hope things work out for him.
I hope Scooby and Courage cross paths again.
Thanks for the review.
WB also put dancing and butt shaking in the end credits of the Batman 66 movies. Maybe that thought it fit, but it went way too far. I can't imagine it's as bad as that.
Explaining the weird stuff in Nowhere as mutations caused by the radiation of a meteorite makes no sense, since Katz himself said that the Meteorite's radiation has been affecting Nowhere for millions of years.
I didn't enjoy the film on my first time watching it. I don't know why i guess i found it pretty weird. Perhaps my absence of knowledge about the courage universe was a big factor.
Things i liked was the jokes in it and especially courage's reactions when he was scared. The old lady was adorable and the grandpa was funny at times. I also liked the darker tone of that movie.
On the other hand i didn't find the monsters interesting enough and the whole plot with the asteroid was a little meh for me. Another thing i didn't like was the small roles the gang had except scooby and shaggy. Sure it is a crossover movie but in other films like this Fred, Daphne and Velma had bigger roles. Finally the rap singing from the old man and the love scene between the lpc and Velma's tablet were super cringeworthy.
I noticed that Velma's personality was toned down in this movie as did Fred's. (For example he doen't even noticed that Daphne modifyied his beloved mystery machine).
In conclution I didn't like the film that much. Maybe i need to catch up with the original courage series before i see it again
5/10
Aww, I'm sorry to hear you didn't like it. I agree Muriel was adorable :) I forgot to mention the romantic scene between the computer and tablet, but yeah, that was really cringey. I was happy that they toned Velma down for this film. She was skeptical to the point of being overbearing in previous films, and I honestly haven't met a single Scooby fan who has said they liked that, so I'm really glad they chose to get rid of that aspect of her character.
Explaining the weird stuff in Nowhere as mutations caused by the radiation of a meteorite feels wrong this was never the case in the orginal series, strange things happened in Nowhere in the series without no real reason, I really don't understand why the writers who wrote the movie feelt such a need to to come up with such a explantion
Weird stuff could have happened in the original series for a reason, it was just unknown. For this movie, Scooby has been pulling away from the supernatural so thats probably why they gave an explanation.
I suppose that's one way to look at it, though I chose to view it as the weird stuff happening being just limited to the cicadas in this movie, not the rest of the series as well. If they did mean it the way you intended, I think Peralaan's explanation sums up their reasoning behind it.
I must say, I had lower expectations for this film before the trailers but the trailers got me excited. Also, shaggy calling the cicada a noob was just so funny to me. I just watched it and...look. This film had great comedy throughout and courage, muriel and eustace were great side characters. I was really enjoying this film and the monsters were more enjoyable than expected. This film was plotless and quite stupid but it was super enjoyable! But..I must say, from the cornfield scene onwards, I wasn't liking the film anymore. I thought the final 20-25 minutes ruined the film. Eustace not being surprised at people bringing him money was quite weird and it would've made much more sense if he was the actual bad guy. I was also very disappointed with the reveal. Also, this film is mostly a Scooby Doo film and the fact that Courage was the one to defeat the monster and Scooby Doo was just stuck behind rocks was really disappointing. Anyways, I was really loving this film...before the last 20-25 minutes of this film (which I hated)
The "noob" thing was pretty funny. Now all we need is for them to say "bougie" again so I can finally update the "Official Bougie Count" hahaha. I enjoyed the humor in this film as well for the most part, other than the fart jokes and Eustace's rap. I definitely don't agree that the film was plotless. Eustace seems like a grouchy, greedy character in general so I think that's what they were playing off of when he was surprised people were bringing him money. Another explanation is that he also could have been starting to be affected by the asteroid.
I guess it does make more sense that way, but I think compared to other films such as Camp Scare this is quite plotless, it was just a bad reveal in my opinion. But, I can say that the worst part of the film was the final 20-25 minutes. Do you agree?
"Plotless" still seems like a strong word, because it makes it sound like they were just screwing around for 78 minutes with no real goal to achieve which I don't agree is the case and I quite liked the plot. I do understand what you're saying though.
It was incredible. I was worried after seeing people rate it lower than the other garbage we've had recently and the fact I don't know much about Courage but this was just unbelievable. Completely bonkers and I barely had any idea what was going on throughout but I loved it, totally Scooby and an absorbing and not easy to figure out mystery. Probably the best DTV in the past decade!
