A good mechanic friend of mine was in a automotive class at college and being one of the more competent students, was tasked by his professor to solve a whiny steering pump on his focus (or some other small Ford, it was years ago now) on his vehicle. The car had been in and out of warranty work several times, not being fixed. So my friend started pouring through books at the automotive library at the college.

Thankfully said book also included a picture of the device. It was a square piece of clear plastic with a flat rubber o-ring gasket and a hose barb fitted inside the gasket hooked to a hand vacuum pump. The assembly simply sat on top of the pump fill tube.

We had most of this laying around, so we decided to give it a shot. We ended up using a spare P/S pump cap and just drilled a hole in it for the hose barb instead of a plastic flat piece. We also decided to use the vehicles vacuum and that a hand pump was too much work, and besides, if an inch or two of vacuum works, 20 must be better right?!

Once things got mostly under control we just drove around with it over the weekend. We maybe only spent 2 hours total on the road, but it just kept getting quieter and quieter. We checked how it was doing intermittently by replacing the proper cap and vacuum line for a bit until we were satisfied with the noise level.

The Ford CII power steering pump has long been known to be an inferior pump that frequently fails prematurely. Our solution to this was to have our own steering pump housing made that takes tried and true Saginaw internals. So now there is a bolt in option for all CII applications. This pump comes with an 11/16" shaft for a press on pulley, OEM metric pressure fitting and an OEM style reservoir. The pressure is set to 1450PSI/2.75GPM for non hydro boost applications and 1500PSI/3.0GPM is you choose hydro boost which also will come with a reservoir that has two return nipples.

Items may be returned within 30 days of purchase. Your original order receipt should be included in the return box. Items should be sent using the original packaging. Upon receipt of your return, we will ensure all items are undamaged, and issue your refund.

Modular Ford Power Steering pump with pulley. This pump is from and fits the 1996-2004 Mustang GT. We have designed versions of our Speed Drive for the Coyote engine to work with this Ford Factory Pump. We also offer the modular power steering pump with the PBH inlet and outlet fittings installed for a hassle free option.

PBH has put together the custom made fitting and o-ring combo to help convert your 4.6L modular Ford Mustang power steering pump to -6 an on the high pressure side. This fitting is a perfect fit for Coyote swaps using our bracket kit or any 4.6L or 5.4L Mustang that is doing custom high pressure hoses for power steering. The fitting is a direct fit to the 96-2010 Mustang GT Power Steering pump and comes complete with o-ring. Simply install on pump and fabricate needed lines to complete the job.

To add an up to 3/4" of clearance from the power steering pump in our Speed Drive system's for 5.0L Coyote engines add this AN return port kit. What we do in this kit is remove the OEM feed fitting from the side of the 4.6L modular Ford power steering pump and relocate it to the rear of the pump.

There is a service port found in the back that is removed and this fitting replaces it allowing the end user to cap off the side port making the pump setup that much smaller. We used a -10an fitting to ensure that the same amount of flow is going back into the pump to feed it from your reservoir. The pump side of the fitting has a unique dish in it to mimic the OEM service port fitting. We drilled a series of holes to ensure there is zero restriction on the return line. This return port kit from PBH comes with the AN fitting, O-ring seal, retaining compound and plug for the OEM port.

The SP-SD-FCV is designed to significantly increase Ford CII power steering pump output pressure to approximately 1600 PSI for increased turning power and improved braking on hydroboost equipped vehicles.

Complete pump with our Billet Reservoir installed. These units are tested in the USA as a complete assembly and guaranteed not to leak. Finally, you can dress up your original Ford Power Steering pump without having to change to a Chevy pump. This reservoir is machined from a solid chunk of billet aluminum and will really make your old Ford steering pump stand out from the crowd.

If your Ford power steering pump is making a lot of noise or no longer working, it is time to replace it with a new Ford OEM steering pump. (This article goes into more detail about common steering problems.)
