Me: -----------------------------------

MaryBeth,

I'm no different from anyone else in that I form quick judgments on minimal information. That's just the way the human mind works, it seems to me.

Based on totally insufficient information, I almost instantly pigeon-holed your new book as "spiritual romance," or chick book. Then I compare it to my pigeon-hole image of myself, and ask, "Am I the type of person who reads spiritual romance stories?," and the answer is "no."

This is undoubtedly unfair both to you and your book, but that's what you're up against, or something similar.

Some people read books as an enjoyable way to structure time. Others read books because they believe doing so will give them new information or perspective. Where does your book fit here?

Your book has a natural pre-existing audience, I'm sure. I hope. Establishing a brand new category is nearly impossible in the sort-term. There is no such thing as a book for everyone.

There is a lot to be said on the subject of marketing books, and I'm no expert. I think a good question to ask and to answer with every mention of your book is this: "This is a book for __ (fill in blank) __"

Focus on the reader rather than on the book.

Hope this helps some.

Tom

MaryBeth: -----------------------------

Tom,

Perhaps this book represents my journey from smallness and doubt to certainty and courage. It presents some of the classrooms (relationships) that seemingly failed, Jesus' Answer to my crying out, and some after thoughts that demonstrate a new way of living in the world. The poetry is incredibly beautiful, (Jesse's Words). The story, much like the stories we all live in perception, transformed by forgiveness and divine union. Miri of Magdal is quite present and shows me how the healing of the duality of male/female returns us to Adam...the state of grace before Eve came to live outside of him. ( from his rib) Of course this is only one dualistic thought in the fragmented ego thought system, but a particularly important one as it appears so early in the creation story, and it has been repressed in history. It is the most extreme example of our separation and differences. Divine union/holy relationship occurred for Jesse and Miri and provided an example of One still denied by the world. Jesse offers me a path for divine union.

By the way, I don't buy your "type of person" assessment of self.

I am no respecter of types and you are far beyond that kind of categorization.

Blessings,
MaryBeth

MaryBeth,

That's some fancy writing, MaryBeth.  I am in fact intrigued with your new book, but I'm already up to my ass in unread books that have a very high priority with me.

I refuse to allow you to give me a copy. But, I will do this.

I will do my best to incite one or more of my friends or acquaintances to buy and read your book, and to tell me about it.
