http://listenvision.com/content/whats-new.php Check out the Pictures of Studio A. That's room we would be using.

Here is the room well be using at recording arts
www.flickr.com/photos/9196880@N03

Just talked to Tony from listen visions. They're offering 60/hr over a five hour block. I'll ask about an bulk hour deal at recording arts. They'll keep our equipment overnight if were doing day to day blocks of recording. Tony was definitely pressed in getting bands in the studio to showcase that new room.

I've seen the room too, it's has good sound, but I would be a bit cramped Compared to recording arts. They didn't have any tracks for reference on hand of any other bands many because that room just got ready for use a while ago. Take a look at the pics and well rap 2nite.

Potential mini-cover:

This is a Stevie tune, but I like the Brand New Heavies' cover better. I think we could kill this groove for a quick second in the show.

It's done, Recording Arts on the 9th 7-10. I have the 10th and the 11th down for 5-10. However, if the rhythm section gets there at 6 or so we'll only get billed for the hours we use. Not bad right... Anyway the studio well keep our equipment overnight during those days. I paid the hour deposit as well. If we can, I would like to shoot for a 6-6:30 arrival on the 9th to setup. I'll be at the studio helping as well, just so that the setup time doesn't count into our recording time.

Jeneal,

You taught me last time that vocalists don't need to be there at the same time, lol. So, nah. Just the rhythm section.

Another idea of a groove that we could smash:

I'm not sure yet, we need to get a good room for the horns. I i agree with Matt that We can record the horns well at another spot. ( for free!) lol. But we'll have this down b4 this week

This will be a long email, so be prepared:

1. Studio: We got the studio! The dates are the 9th (7p-10p), 10th and 11th (5-10). This is only for the rhythm section. The vocals and horns will record in separate sessions. Donald has the capability to record on his MacBook, so I was thinking that the vocals and/or horns could be recorded on that. This is only because of the financial restraints the studio poses. If the studio can record the horns as well (without bleeding), then they'll be included in the session. If anyone knows of an affordable place we could do the vocals efficiently, let the group know. Jammal Day will be engineering the project, so we won't be paying for that through the studio, just raw recording time. Todd, hit up the Jolleys to see if their studio is still available, please. The vocals will be recording to the raw tracks we lay down in the studio, so the first date for y'all will be the 10th.

2. Costs: For the costs of 13 hours of studio time and Charles' ticket, we'll need $114.75 from each member.

3. Personnel: For the Pittsburgh show and studio sessions, here's the personnel:
a. Omare
b. Joel
c. Donald
d. Jeneal
e. Todd
f. Randy
g. Charles
h. Brian Doyle
i. Jonathan Smith
j. Jonathan Sothern/Truck Naylor (bass) (I'm waiting to hear back from Jonathan)

*I did not calculate Brian Doyle or Jon/Truck into the costs because they're doing us a favor and don't need to pay.

*k: Cedric Loiseau (manager) and Johnnie "SpaghettiBoys" Walker would like to come up and watch us rock in the 'Burgh. Since Johnnie's a dope artist, I was thinking that it'd be hot if we let him do one verse on something. I bounced the idea around with Ced and he loved it. I told him I'd ask y'all first though. If you think it'd be hot, let me know asap. If not, let me know that too lol.

4. SetList:

Set List ideas: (for 30 min set)
1. "Pure Imagination"/Drum Call Intro
1a. HITS
2. Stars Fall From Skies
2a. HITS
3. "It's A Shame" or "Waken Baken" from Wiz Khalifa's, "Kush and Orange Juice" (this would be dope bc he's from Pittsburgh)
3a. HITS (Earth, Wind, and Fire "Getaway" Intro)
4. Price Is Right
4a. HITS
5. Time is On Our Side/This Just In/Something's Movin' (Pieces of each; no dead time)
5a. HITS
6. Bridge to Nowhere
7. Outro

5. Album Art: I was thinking that it'd be dope to have James Shields (DOPE HU artist) do our album art for us. Once I get the go ahead from y'all and we give him completion dates and ideas, he'll give us the price. Let me know what you think. Check out his stuff at www.creativeshields.com.

Boogs, that was an accident. Y'all don't need to be there (unless you want to). Good call though. Vocals will be separate.

On the 8th, our sound check is somewhere between 11:30 and 12, so we're gonna leave DC at 6:30-7am so we can get there with ample time. It takes around 4 hours, so we'll be good. I'm driving and I figure Joel and Jonathan could as well. In terms of backline, they won't have instruments, only amps and mics. The only instrument that will be there is the kit. Everyone else (me, aux) will need to bring their respective instruments.

Randy, I was thinking that on the bridge to "Bridge to...", on that break down part we could do some trading between the horns...we'll discuss it later though. As for Charles' ticket, I can't begin to thank you all enough for the gesture- I expected the sentiment (that thank you is implied), lol.
Matt, what about Johnny Bess for the album art? I don't know if you already asked James, who is a dope artist. The only reason is I spent a looot of time with Johnny and his mind seems to be, visually, where we are musically. I'm good with whatever decision; just wanted to throw that in the melting pot. And I realize I'm late, but who is Cedric? (if you're reading this and I've met you, please don't be offended- I'm not playing with a full deck)

Johnnie Bess is a great artist and brotha and I'm down to work with him again. He was supposed to be working on something for me, but I haven't heard from him in a long time, so I thought of James. Either way, I'm fine. Just need someone reliable.

Cedric is Johnnie Walker's manager. Johnnie performed at the family show and he's got some dope stuff in store, so I figured we could let him drop a verse.
