The Bring Charles Ass fund will now commence. There is a round trip flight ticket for 138. I'm putting up $30 for his ticket.

Perhaps it's more prudent for us to calculate the cost of bringing Charles + the cost of the studio, because we'll have to pay for that as well. If it's $65 an hour (roughly $8 a person), we should determine the number of realistic hours we'll need to lay down our tracks and what each person should put in.

That makes sense. So if we each gave 30 than he would have 210 because of tax the ticket my come out to 150. LETS DO IT.

I'll wait for you all to figure this out and someone just tell me how much money to give to someone...

I'm talking to Marcus Johns about another potential studio. Money is tight for everyone, I'm sure (It's a recession), including the kid. Hopefully we can get our per-person costs (to bring Charles and pay for the studio) to something like $60-70 a piece. Once Marcus gives me more specifics, I'll pass them on.

Intro Idea:
I want to start out with a vocal arrangement of "Pure Imagination" from Willy Wonka. I think it'd be hot to have the horns play the bell part (repeating line in the beginning) while the vocals sing over it in the first verse. In the second verse, we could add strings and a cymbal roll from Joel. At the end of the second verse, Joel could transition to the drum call before we really get the show started. I think this could be hot because "the world of pure imagination" we create would be the 40 minute set to follow. I don't anticipate this going over 1:30.

After the drum call, we could get into "It's A Shame." Just some ideas. Let me know what y'all think.

In regards to the Charles situation and the studio. If we can find somewhere for $60 that would be ideal. At this given moment we have one for $65 we can continue to look yet I have a feeling we could lose a good deal looking for others that may or may not come to fruition. Its up to the group I am down for whatever decision but time is running out. In regards to the Willy Wonka intro that seems quite interesting....give me some time to digest it. THe song itself is real smooth. But we have to funktify (yea I know its not in the dicitonary) it.

This sounds good. I can hear various ways we can approach a vocal arrangement of "Pure Imagination". I like the idea for the theme too. IQ's sound has matured. I feel like as long as we are deliberate in the package we deliver we will have a great dynamic set.

I'm excited to get to our rehearsals and get this started!!! Our set and album will both be amazing..

Yo my bad for getting back to everybody so late. I'm in new orleans until the 1st. What dates are we looking at trying to record? Before or after the pittsburgh show. I can have the bread by then. And I like the intro idea , but what is "its a shame ".

"It's a Shame" is the old school Spinners tune, and recording depends on availability. I don't think we can record until after Pittsburgh at Recording Arts, but other spots may have earlier opportunities for session time.

Yeah, Sweet Spot Studio was suggested by another friend of mine; the dude seems cool. How much are the Jolleys charging though?

the Jolley's are currently renovating their studio so if it is used it will probably be just for vocals. Sweet Spot sounds good and the rates look good. The samples they provided on the website were good too so let me know whatever the final decision is.

I went to sweetspot website it looks and sounds good but I don't see anything for the prices. Todd where did you see the rates?  This is Jonathan.

w Much Does It Cost?

Mixing: as low as $150!
A simple project is simpler to mix. For an accurate quote we need to know more about your music. Call 703 298 7530 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              703 298 7530      end_of_the_skype_highlighting or email us at con...@sweetspotstudio.com.

Post Production: just $25 per hour!
We really want your input in this process. Some mistakes are good mistakes. Others you just can't live with. We must understand exactly what bothers you so we focus our attention on what matters. Most vocals can be cleaned up in less than 2 hours.

Mastering: $75 per song (when you order 10 or more songs) or $100 for an individual song.

Sweet Spot charges 75/hr but has a bundle rate of 10 hours for 600 so that makes it 60. so it is more hourly than the other one. whatever decision you think is best is fine with me

They're basically the same price then, right? Listen Vision (across from HU on GA Ave) now has full band capability and the dude assured me he could match the price, so that's an option as well. We need to decide today though so it can be booked.

On another note, we need to 1) secure a bass player ASAPolous and 2) I'd like to add a trombone player for our Pittsburgh show. I was thinking of Brian Doyle or Truck (unless you all suggest someone else). I think it could add another layer to the already killin' horn sound.

I just spoke to Tell about the Pittsburgh BFR show. We're going on at 5/5:15. Our sound check will be between 11:30 and noon (we'll be the last group to sound check). That'll have us leaving DC around 6:30/7am on Sunday, Aug. 8th. He's gonna call me back in a bit to give me info on the back line equipment.
