Hi, my name is Malcolm Lambert. I started this group for discussion
about using computers to enhance the use of unprocessed rock as a
stand-alone building material.

Please post any thoughts, suggestions, comments or questions.

As a starting point I'll explain a little more about what I mean by
"using computers to enhance the use of unprocessed rock as a stand-
alone building material".

Using computers means anything ICT which is used to help build with or
visualise rock. For example, scanning hardware, the software to
view and manipulate 3D scan data and applications such as CAD.

"Unprocessed rock" has been extracted from a quarry after blasting but
it has not been subject to any other industrial process such as
cutting, grinding or heat treatment. The production of unprocessed
rock results in just 10% of the greenhouse gas emissions compared to
competing products like brick, concrete and cut stone.

By "stand-alone building material" I mean pieces of rock that are
individually manipulated by hand or by machinery and deliberately
placed in position in a structure. So that's any structure where
someone has given each
piece of rock some individual attention by placing it in the structure
rather than treating the rocks on mass as a pile of rubble or
aggregate.

Intresto is a company and Rocksolver is the software product under
development. Rocksolver is based on technology which is patent pending
and its development is aimed at two things; making a significant
reduction in the greenhouse gas emissions of some sectors in the
construction industry and making a profitable business.
