Streets, our largest public space, belong to all of us, but on a normal day people riding bikes, walking, or jogging have to dodge cars to use them. Not on this day! Saturday, June 25th, is the people’s day, so join us for Atlanta’s only open streets event, Atlanta Streets Alive. By the people, for the people. It’s streets for all! To feel like a kid again, all you have to do is come play in the street.

Saturday, June 25 from 4-8 pm on Edgewood Avenue, from Peachtree to Boulevard, and Jackson from Edgewood to Auburn.

We’ll have open streets for riding bikes with friends and family, old school games, people-watching, restaurants and bars with specials for participants, or you can learn a new dance step, hula-hoop, double-dutch, listen to music, run a waiter water relay, play on the slip ‘n’ slide, do some yoga, get your bike tuned up, or help build a pop up city. To find out more, visit atlantastreetsalive.com.

And don’t miss the afterparty at Elliott Street Pub - free to volunteers and activity partners but everyone is invited! $10 suggested donation to ASA. Band, keg, DJ, and a “velo chic” street fashion show, under the stars along the tracks. FB event: http://is.gd/afterparty

New activities June 25 include a pop-up city by CNU Atlanta & Georgia Conservancy, "wordskotch" with Better World Books, and Laughter Yoga. Visit www.atlantastreetsalive.com/route-activities for the full list of activities.

Organized by local nonprofit the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition in partnership with the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District / Central Atlanta Progress, and volunteers from Georgia State and Georgia Tech, and supported by a range of groups including the King Center and Historic District, the office of Atlanta City Council Member Kwanza Hall, the Georgia Conservancy and CNU Atlanta.

Atlanta Streets Alive is presented by Coca-Cola Company with support from Kaiser Permanente, along with local sponsors including Kudzu Studios, Creative Loafing, Corner Tavern and Rolling Bones.

Help us spread the word by inviting your friends - this event is completely free and open to the public!
