Howdy pardners, I'm happy to announce our next ride -- an organic,
sustainable, local urban farm tour. This is an idea that I've been
bouncing around for too long and I figure that this summer would be a
great time to down to the soil. I'm extra pleased to announce that
we'll be joined on this ride by some folks from Georgia Organics, who
will help enlighten us about their efforts and the state of organic
farming in the metro Atlanta area.

Since our last two rides have been largely westside and there are lots
of farms and gardens on the eastside, we'll be heading east for most
of the stops. The route might include Gaia Gardens at East Lake
Commons, Oakhurst Community Garden, Decatur High School student
garden, and possibly a few more as I finalize the details (I realize
this leaves out some great westside community and school gardens but
we can't do 'em all.)

We'll meet at the East Lake MARTA station on the College Ave (south)
side at 10:00am. As always, the ride will be about 10-12 miles at a
very easy pace and we'll stop for lunch afterwards. We'll finish up in
the Decatur area, close to several MARTA stations.

I would appreciate some recommendations for a good food place in the
Decatur area, maybe with a local food or summer farm-fresh flavor.

By all indications, it appears that this may be the biggest ITG ride
thus far. I would suggest that if the group gets so big that it's
unwieldy, we split into two and meet up at each farm for the tour.

Our next ride is coming up quickly, on Sunday June 21 -- a tour of
organic, sustainable, and local urban farms. We'll be joined on this
ride by some folks from Georgia Organics and the Atlanta Local Food
Initiative, who will help enlighten us about their efforts and organic
farming in the metro Atlanta area.

We'll meet at the East Lake MARTA station on the College Ave (south
side) at 10:00am. The route will include the Decatur High School
student garden, the Oakhurst Community Garden, Gaia Gardens at East
Lake Commons, and Harvest Farm in East Atlanta. We will be eating
lunch in East Atlanta Village, so bring money for food and be prepared
to ride back to Decatur or arrange a pick up in EAV.

The ride is just short of 12 miles at a very easy pace and we'll stop
for lunch as a group afterwards As with all of our rides, this tour
will be on open roads in traffic and there will not be support
vehicles! We'll ride as a group but will be traveling through the
city, following traffic rules. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes;
bring water, a lock, and money for lunch; and be prepared to ride
12-15 miles (or find your way home alone.)

What the heck is a support vehicle?
