Howdy folks, spring has arrived and it's time for another cycling
trip. I have gotten several requests for a tour around Atlanta's Fire
Stations, so that will be our next destination.

We'll be meeting at a somewhat unusual location -- the Dome/GWCC/CNN
MARTA station (100 Centennial Olympic Park Dr NW.) Meet on the
sidewalk of Centennial Dr at 10:00am (near the Philips Arena, where
the building spells out A-T-L-A-N-T-A).

The meeting spot is very close to Station #1; from there we'll
probably see 7, 16, 11, 15, 19, 12, 13, 10, 4, and 6. Ending with a
late lunch at Engine 11 (formerly the Spotted Dog), a converted fire
house and now bar/pub restaurant on North Ave. If anyone has good
stories or historic tidbits about any station, please pass them along.

As always, this is a very relaxed ride -- casual pace, no drop,
probably about three hours plus lunch afterwards. Looking forward to
seeing everyone there!

Hi group, this is a brief note to remind everyone about our up coming
Sunday ride around Atlanta's Fire Stations. We'll be meet on Sunday,
April 16th, at 10:00am.

The meeting place is a bit unusual -- the entrance to the Dome/GWCC/
CNN Marta Station along Centennial Park Dr. We'll be on the sidewalk
adjacent to Philips Area. To get there from Five Points, go west on
Marietta St, turn left on Centennial Park Dr, and look for us on the
right at Philips near the Marta station entrance.

We'll start at Station #1 and make a big loop around the city,
stopping at as many stations as we have time for. A highlight will be
the historic Station #6, which has a little museum to fire fighting in
the city. We'll also stop at the historic Winecroff Hotel, site of the
deadliest hotel fire in the nation's history. Lunch afterwards will be
at Engine 11 (former Spotted Dog), in Midtown near the North Ave
Station.

As always, this is a very relaxed ride -- casual pace, no drop,
probably about three hours plus lunch afterwards. Looking forward to
seeing everyone there!
