Detective Naani 1 Movie Review
Detective Naani is a 2009 Indian Hindi-language mystery comedy film directed by Romilla Mukherjee and starring Ava Mukherjee, Zain Khan, Amit Verma and Shweta Gulati. The film follows the adventures of a 72-year-old grandmother who turns into a detective and solves a kidnapping case with the help of her grandchildren and neighbors.
Plot Summary
The film is set in Gulmohar Complex, where Naani lives with her divorced daughter Priya and her grandchildren Anjali and Nakul. One day, she sees a little girl peeping nervously from a window of a flat belonging to a newly arrived childless couple, the Yadavs. She gets curious about the girl and tries to investigate, but the Yadavs deny having any children. Naani informs the police, but they dismiss her story due to lack of evidence. She decides to take matters into her own hands and forms a team of amateur detectives with her grandchildren, a couple of teenagers Rohan and Neeti, and an old man Mr. Pal.
Naani's investigation leads her to discover that the Yadavs are involved in a child trafficking racket run by a powerful criminal. The little girl she saw is Neelima, who was kidnapped from her mother by the Yadavs. Naani gets too close to the truth and ends up being kidnapped herself by the gang. Her team of detectives manages to rescue her and Neelima with the help of CID Inspector Bhatia, who was initially skeptical of Naani's claims but later joins her side. The Yadavs and their boss are arrested and Neelima is reunited with her mother.

Detective Naani is a film that tries to blend mystery, comedy, and family drama in one package. It has some moments of fun and charm, but also suffers from flaws in its plot, direction, and execution. It is a film that may appeal to children and fans of light-hearted detective stories, but may not satisfy those who are looking for a more thrilling and engaging mystery.
