I was wondering if anyone knew of any great videos or books illustrating the approach to different OO programming projects within Cache. In going back to school a year a go, I started to realize that while I have been working with InterSystems software for surprisingly almost a decade, there is very little information in my university's library and absolutely no information about it in regards to class instruction material.

I have found a few old (very) videos where InterSystems does video tutorials; however, that seems to be lacking as well. To be honest, I have thought about it so much I wondered how much the community would benefit from me setting up a web site with tutorials. I used to do Photoshop tutorials when I was a teenager for a living and I know I still go back to some of them today. Has anyone found any sites/material like this?

Thanks!

Hello Mack,

Unfortunately, mostly because Cache is not so popular, we do not have so many video or books, or any tutorials. And most of videos made by InterSystems.
InterSystems not so long ago did Video Portal, where they are laying out new videos, unfortunately most of them for marketing purposes, not for developers.
For developers they launched in this year - Learning portal. Where they placed, some step-by-step courser with tests. And could be helpful for newbies in Cache, and with some new features, like Mojo or RESTful.
And as well, presentations and academies videos form Global Summit, link

I think much more helpful videos we have from InterSystems Russia, here on YouTube, but that videos in russian.
As well we have russian blog where we have more then hundred topics, about Cache, most of them could be used as tutorials. You can try to use it with google translate. And, I hope to translate last of my topics in English soon (of course with a help, I know my English is terrible).

Hi Mack,

If you're interested in seeing how Cache can be used in conjunction with Node.js Rob Tweed has created a number of excellent Udemy courses. You can find the links under the Training tab at http://ec2.mgateway.com/ewd/ws/index.html#.
There's even an introductory course on globals there, though you don't really need to know too much about the storage for EWD.js.

As always, thanks for the input guys. It definitely doesn't seem like much is out there. If anyone at InterSystems wants to chat on this, I would love to give my input on it. As they say, the more developers that understand the larger the possibilities. Pretty much the only reason why Linux owns the web server market.

@DAiMor: Thanks a lot. I will definitely check out the blog with Google Translate (one of the best tools ever, especially when used in conjunction with Chrome). In regards to InterSystems not being popular, I am not to sure about that. Unless its intentional, I feel InterSystems has done a poor job at marketing themselves. To be honest, this is quite common with a lot of brilliant computer engineering companies. They often are experts in their field; however, they don't know how to "get the word out" as it usually takes someone who knows more about conversations than how data is handled. After being thrown to the wolves when I started programming and talking with friends of mine in other industries, I soon found out that several large companies have InterSystems as their backbone database. As an example, EPIC Systems is one of the largest applications used in the medical industry, which uses InterSystems. Anyways, I digress. I really appreciate your links though. Thanks a lot!

@Mike: I love Udemy! I'll definitely check them out.
