Hello,

The above command is not working, can anyone help me debug this thing?

     Set X=$ZF(-1,"C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe")

X is set to 1 but nothing else happens.

,"C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe" is a valid path

Try this...

Set X=$ZF(-1,"C:\Progra~1\Notepad++\notepad++.exe")

If that location is good, then this should work.

On my Vista machine, notepads default location is \%SystemRoot%
\system32\notepad.exe. When I set X=$ZF(-1,"%SystemRoot%
\system32\notepad.exe"), first I get an "interactive services dialog
detection" pop-up from Vista, wanting me to look at a message on my
desktop. It says "this problem happens because of an incompatibility
problem with Windows". I'm not sure if it's talking about Cache there
or Notepad. I just chaulk it up to another Vista Mystery.

Anyway after I click on the "Show Me the Message" button, I get to see
the Notepad that was launched. There's probably some way around the
message through some security setting, but I did look into it. If
your path is correct than the call out should work...

X=1 means there was a failure

X=0 would mean success

Perhaps something wrong with your path or permissions?  When I do the following in terminal, it launches Notepad++ (which I have in my path) :

CCR>w $zf(-1,"notepad.exe")

1

I am on XP.
