Hello! I just wanted to check in with all the occupations, see how everyone is faring in the new year, as well as inquire as to who is planning any upcoming events and who will be going to Washington DC for the nationally coordinated Occupy Congress event coming up soon. Perhaps people could start more rideshares and caravan to DC from Texas. It will be good to connect with people we met along the way and know how everything is progressing across the movement. Let me know how its going!
Please, any suggestions on facilitating communication between citizens and their representatives would be fantastic because participatory democracy begins with participation. Does anyone know of any Martin Luther King Jr. Day events? The Global Candle Light Vigil was mentioned through interocc, and I was curious who is participating, the link is:

Occupy Austin has their three month anniversary celebration this weekend, kicking off on Friday, January 6th at 6pm, and everyone is welcome!! We will have awards, art, music, dancing and food. There is also Solar power at the Welcome and Info Tent! The 24/7 occupation is still at City Hall, with marches and rallies at the capitol and around Austin every week.
I know Little Rock is doing well, and now has Wind and Solar Generators! They also have the OccupyArkansas State Convention event staring on January 13th at the OccuDome. "Tales From the Parking Lot" is a talk show by the chef.
Occupy Nashville had laminated information center on casters and three media tents, a weekly talk radio show modeled after Ira Swift from NPR, and many other inhabited tents set up on Legislative Plaza across the street from the capitol. Getting a strange warning on their site, need to look into it further.
Go Atlanta! Occupy Atlanta is occupying foreclosed homes, a park and has an art gallery and studio space, a rooftop garden, a bicycle repair shop and living quarters!
There were three occupations in Washington DC. Occupy DC was a little city and the most functional occupy we visited, with a solid 24/7 occupation, and many amenities such as an art tent, comfort tent, 24/7 tea and coffee tent, chess tables, and tent space. The other two occupations were Occupy Washington DC at Liberty Plaza and the temporary SEIU union camp on the National Mall where there was no sleeping or camping.
Occupy DC has come to general consensus in support of Occupy Congress beginning on January 17th at 9am! There are rideshares from the west coast across the country as part of a mass migration to the capitol when the House of Representatives reconvenes, it may be the largest protest yet. Occupy Congress currently needs volunteers for Medical and Sanitation if anyone is interested.
