INTERNET INSIDER

Lots happening in the world of digital rights this week, as the campaign against the EU Commission’s reckless copyright proposals gathers pace. Our friends at ExpressVPN have published a great piece defending our right to hyperlink, and our own Ruth Coustick-Deal explains how the Commission’s proposed new copyright robots will undermine our basic rights.

It was also a whirlwind week for our team in Canada: we held top-level meetings with the Ministry of Public Safety about Bill C-51 and privacy issues, and with the Department of Canadian Heritage about a costly proposed new ISP tax.

And if that wasn’t enough, our team also rocked their presentation at a crucial set of CRTC hearings about data caps and net neutrality — hearings that could set an important global precedent for Internet users everywhere. Check out our live blog for more!

Last but far from least, our new Board Chair Susan McLennan explains why she’s so passionate about the Internet and the crucial role you, our community, play in its future — check out her Letter to the Community!
