Invitation: Youth Focus Group on International Development

Dear Friends,

The International Youth Council (IYC), Friendship Ambassadors Foundation (FAF) and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) invite you to attend an important focus group as a lead-up to the UNAOC's Fourth Annual Forum in Doha, Qatar this December. The meeting will take place at the UNAOC Headquarters from 3pm-6pm on Monday October 10th. Please reply to Ja...@Internatioanlyouthcouncil.com with a statement of interest (in either attending the meeting or becoming a moderator) to obtain the address and more information. A total of 8 places are available for youth leaders.

This forum in Doha will bring together over 2,000 participants, including political and corporate leaders, civil society activists, youth groups, faith communities, research centers, foundations and journalists, will come together to agree on joint actions to improve relations across cultures, combat prejudice and build lasting peace. Over 200 "Youth Partners" from all around the world will be invited to join this forum.

 

The International Youth Council has been invited to work with the UNAOC to make sure that these Youth Partners carry with them and share the viewpoints of youth from across the world.

Therefore, the IYC (in partnership) will be holding an online consultation process on the UNAOC Youth Website that will engage young people from around the world in discussions that encompass the 3 themes of the forum. These three themes are:

·         Theme 1: How Does Cultural Diversity Matter to Development? The missing link

·         Theme 2: Promoting Trust and  Tolerance to Advance  Development Goals

·         Theme 3: News Strategies for Intercultural Dialogue, Understanding & Cooperation

 

The most helpful and poignant viewpoints from the consultation process will be shared with the youth partners who will then interact with world leaders at the Doha Forum.

We need you to help come up with the questions that will be asked online, and to help moderate or find moderators for the consultation process.

The focus group will meet at the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Headquarters from 3pm-6pm on Monday October 10th. I do hope you will join.
