The annual MDG Awards support and raise awareness of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). This year, the MDG Awards will be held on September 19, 2010 at the Waldorf Astoria. We are looking volunteers for the MDG Awards to help with logistical support.

OPPORTUNITIES:

1. Volunteer Committee: We are looking for 10 volunteers (full or part time) who can dedicate their time from now until the day of the event to be part of the Volunteer Committee for the MDG Awards.

Current Responsibilities:• Help with the PR for MDG awards- exploring social media networks
• Logistical support for the MDG awards
• Help promote South-South News on social Media Networks

2. We are looking for 50 volunteers to help with logistics on the day of the MDG Awards.

CRITERIA:

1. Must be based in NYC or can be in NYC on the day of MDG Awards on September 19, 2010 and September 17, 2010 training day for volunteers.
2. Preferred to have college degree or abtaining the college degree
3. Preferred to have knowledge and familiar with the 8 UN Millennium Development Goal Awards
4. There will be a meeting on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 to discuss details. We look forward to seeing you there!

The annual MDG Awards support and raise awareness of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The New York-based ceremony provides a high profile platform to honour and celebrate exemplary efforts by select national governments and civil society stakeholders in contributing toward the achievement of the MDG goals.

The theme for this years ceremony is the 'the MDSs: the Global Heartbeat.' A series of compelling stories will illustrate the power and impact of the MDGs and their potential to transform lives. The event will encourage distinguished guests and celebrity speakers and entertainers alike a coice to their own personal commitment to supporting the MDGs while recognizing the need for all stakeholders to work toward their achievement.
