Hi team,

It has been a while, I guess everyone is just full on with your study, work and other commitments, as I am aware of after speaking to a few of you. I hope that you are all well.

You would have already received this, but I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge all your hard work, all the bit and pieces that forms a great contribution to the My Study, My Career - International Student Forum 2013.

Khin Yew Chong and his assistant Kaveiinaa (who looks after the student ambassadors recruitment, briefing, scheduling and running the show perfectly well), George Lipinski (who looks after promotion and marketing), Charlotte Gelugne (who have sadly left back to France for good, who has created the My Study, My Career logo and the design theme for this project), Kylee Hartman (photography team), Aleem, Victoria, Salih and Ehsan. Whether it is pre-event or during the event, you are star!

I have to say that there have been enormous amount of positive support and feedback bring received from the all parties, including external stakeholders before and after the event. Major support including major sponsors such as the City of Sydney, the Living in Harmony Festival 2013 working group alongside other industry bodies within the international education industry.

Also to acknowledge the fact that we do receive the support from the participants who have traveled far from Newcastle and Wollongong, who have been a great part of the audience in the evening.

All these are the result of your wonderful effort.

I have a phone conversation with Leigh from the City of Sydney earlier and that it is a great pleasure for the event organising team of My Study, My Career, together with the Story of Malaysia ( another student run event by the Malaysian students) to be invited to give a presentation in sharing our knowledge and experience in implementing this project with the wider community of the City of Sydney's Living in Harmony Festival 2013 group, and that we can learn from each other through this wonderful experience of organising this event.

I will be in touch with a few of you to discuss about this.

Regards,
Thomson

Morning Thomson and Xin Pei,

I just wanted to confirm that you both received my previous email (below) about presenting your Living in Harmony event experiences and findings at the working group thank-you luncheon?

Could you please let us know if your group will be able to do this presentation at the luncheon on Tuesday 21 May?

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask Susana or myself.

More information about the presentation is contained in the below original email.

Dear Malaysia Festival and My Study, My Career event organisers and volunteers,

As you are aware, we are holding a ‘volunteer thank-you luncheon’ on 21 May for Living in Harmony working group members.

The luncheon will provide an opportunity to celebrate the successes of the Festival events, acknowledge the hard work of everyone involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the many Festival events, and to share experiences of the process between group members.

As such, we would like to invite your group to share your experiences and knowledge from the implementation of your Festival event at the thank-you luncheon, including an overview of:

·         What works and what doesn’t

·         Best practice from your experiences

·         The marketing and promotion of your event to young people

·         The engagement of young people as volunteers for your events

This could be in the form of a discussion or speech, using a PowerPoint presentation perhaps to highlight noteable experiences and lessons learnt. The sharing of your experiences and information in this way will be a valuable learning tool for your group and other groups, whilst recognising the time and effort you have put into the planning, implementation and evaluation of your events.

Susana will be in contact with you shortly to talk in more detail about this opportunity.

Regards,
