I think all those old religious rules about how to reach Zen
enlightenment have been side-swiped by the science new-agers have put
into making music that can take you to places immediately that the old
techniques that you had to work on for a lifetime still couldn't take
you. Forget all those guttural awful sounding chants, that's not a
natural sound for the voice, and sharp, angular breath attacks on
shakuhachi that are guaranteed to take you out of your meditative
groove. Smooth, relaxing, deep, beautiful shakuhachi tones with heavy
synthesizer drones in the background rule. You can't help but fall
into deep meditation. Yes, new age shakuhachi is the way to go!
