Hello!
I love this regatta. It is a camping and sailing venue.
The 🏕️
It’s so quiet at night that you can hear the satellites fly by at night. The amount of stars at night was impressive.
- Saturday night was an all out bbq with drinks and great company provided. Thanks Tahoe Yacht Club for providing the drinks! Hopefully next year there will be a taco night on Friday.
- The temperature was nice at night. There was even someone sleeping in their bag outside of the tent. Maybe they got kicked out… lol

The ⛵️
🍟Friday
- Was a practice day. TYC brought their juniors out to run a clinic coaches by Bryce and I. We did a few laps up and down the lake working on adjusting the boat heel with sheet and body weight while keeping a straight course. The downwinds we did up turn and down turn on the whistle. That drill helps with breaking down the movements.

🪑Saturday
- Was the first day of racing. We had 6 races. About 25min each. The first lap of the first race was the only race where the right was the way to go. Otherwise keep going left. I definitely made the mistake to consolidate with the fleet too early a few times. Such a tricky day. We had our not so good races. There were many capsizes too. I love when you hear a boat capsize behind you. Then you think 💭 “OMG what’s coming this way?!”. Don’t look back, just put more vang on lol.

☀️ Sunday
- was the second day of racing. We had 4 races. It was the trickiest day. Sailing up the middle or staying left worked the best. Downwind, going high onto the broadreach to get into the pressure first and to build a better BTL angle downwind. If you dove down early after the Windward mark, then you are up your opportunity to go BTL more often. The wave skew was moving right to left facing downwind. This was another reason not to go deep too early. But if I did not see good pressure coming down the course, I would dive down a bit but point at the mark and look for flat spots or opportunities to catch waves. Lots of sheet dropping and a trimmed in sail helped load up the leech to catch waves.
Emilio took home the win for the regatta, after a 16 point tie breaker. He had one more 1st than me. Maybe I should have been more risky! My worst score was a 5th and his was in the teens. Lesson here was be more risky on the lake by pressing more to one side especially if we have 2 throw outs. Many of us took flyers out to one side. Sometimes it worked. Sometimes it didn’t.

Recovery, Nutrition and Training:
- Recovery: foam rolling and some mobility exercises at the end of the day. It only took about 20min.
- Nutrition: Before heading out, I had a few rice crackers. I had a pack of gummy bears after each race. It’s about 26g of carbs and fun. And then about 8-10oz of water. And the first thing I ate when I got back to the dock was beef jerky and some carbs.
- training: I’ve been in the gym 4 days a week doing heavy core and leg exercises, corrective exercises for the Shoulders, hips and knees (as they get beaten up by the laser.), and some cardio training (I’ll be doing more once I’m closer to my goal weight).
*If you like to know more, DM me or ask on this thread so everybody can see the questions.

Fun racing! Congratulations to Emilio!
I love lake regattas!!
See y’all at Nationals and good luck to those going to NAs in New York!
-Julian

This Tahoe champs was really fun even again a week ago!  I just uploaded several photos from the Stampede Lake.

D24 West Coast Sailing Grand-prix score was updated including this latest results.

Next D2e grad-prix event is Totally Dinghy 9/30 at RYC. This will be also a fun one-day event. As it has been already said, I hope many more boats can sign up. Early registration due date is this Tuesday, so no more procrastination.

Thanks,
Toshi
