Here is a summary of results from the NorCal fleet survey. Thanks to the 25 fleet members who responded in February and March of 2026. If you have responded, thanks!

If you would like access to actual questionnaire responses, please let me know, and I will provide them to you individually.

Overall, 85% of respondents are very satisfied with our events, with a median score of 8.5 on a scale of 1-10.

Here is a summary of feedback.

Our Strengths:

• Strong communication and leadership with event calendars and updates.

• Positive community culture, with emphasis on having fun, supporting each other, and

• social engagement.

• Events, with general satisfaction with current offerings. There is interest in expanding, not replacing, events. People like the variety and think that the calendar is full and active. Balancing frequent activities and schedule conflicts is a challenge.

Opportunities to increase participation and satisfaction include:

• Improving access. People want to participate but don’t have equipment or can’t reach venues.

• Make it easier to improve (training + coaching)

• Make it more fun and inclusive (social + diverse events)

• Boosting participation at lakes, sailing on the peninsula, and reviving local fleets

• Reducing scheduling conflicts

• People want events that are closer to home and more convenient.

Specific suggestions include:

• Booking system for rentals

• Club partnership for boat access

• Revive peninsula activity

• Coaching for beginners as well as skill development

• Events that are not competitive racing

• More long-distance sails
