Hi, dancers, Happy New Year, 2026!
Dancing weekly on Fridays and Mondays in January, starting on the 5th
-except there is no dancing on Martin Luther King Day, the 19th.
(The Henry Ford Museum offers special programs, free admission, and free parking on that day. )
Thank you so much for your generous Socktober and Glovember donations.
And the two dozen washcloths, too.
As you know, our 250 year-old democracy is now facing unprecedented
challenges. On New Year's Day, 2026, news programs reported that health care
premiums and deductibles had just greatly increased for millions, child care funding
was being withheld nationally, and our mail will get no longer get a postmark on the
day we mail it.
So, perhaps "Protection" is an appropriate song to welcome 2026.
It's sung by award-winning artist, Lucinda Williams, "one of the most
celebrated singer-songwriters of her generation." Her newest album,
World's Gone Wrong, will be released on January 23rd. (Quote fromWikipedia)
I need protection from the enemy of love
I need protection from the enemy of righteousness
I need protection from the enemy of good
I need protection from the enemy of kindness
Give me protection from the enemy of love
All the Lyrics.
[Verse 1]
I've seen some things in life as God is my witness
A crowded bar where nobody could hear
Now I travel through the world with dedication
And what I do, I do it all by my own sweet self
[Chorus]
I need protection from the enemy of loveI need protection from the enemy of righteousness
I need protection from the enemy of good
I need protection from the enemy of kindness
Give me protection from the enemy of love
[Verse 2]I came into the world all alone
Pushing and struggling to find a home
I'll tell you what child, go ahead and repeat it
It was my own trial made me stand on my two feet
I need protection from the enemy of love
I need protection from the enemy of rock and roll
I need protection from the enemy of good
I need protection from the enemy of kindnessGive me protection from the enemy of soul For Educational Purposes Only
