Hi, dancers,
We found the music for the Ukrainian dance, Oj Maju Maju, and enjoyed dancing it on Monday. A translation revealed the disappointment of a young girl: "I have, I have eyes, little hands,
and legs, but I have no one to look at, to touch, and to dance with."
We also reviewed Heyamo, which is danced to a work song
from the Laz people of Turkey who speak a (Kartvelian) language
that is also spoken in Georgia. The song has a Georgian feel
because of its harmony.
We danced Zurla Cocek and have included a link to the lively
music of the Tuna Band that features Tuncay "Tuna" Shavlev.
Monday Dancing on August 22 and 29, 2022 at 7:30 PM.
The next Friday dance will be on August 26 at 8:00 PM.
