Hi, dancers,
Tom programmed Friday dancing this week, and he chose to teach Senin Canina, For My Soul, a combination of two Turkish dance styles in one dance. We featured Senin Canina in the Monday playlist for September 9th, and we are repeating it here for the Friday playlist.
Senin Canina is actually two Turkish dances, a Halay and a
Delilo that were put together by Bianca DeJong and then
taught by Roberto Bagnoli.
Halay is the national dance of Turkey and is done in a line or
circle with dancers moving to the right. It is also the most
popular dance at Turkish weddings.
In Delilo, dancers move forward, stamp, and move backward
facing center. These dance styles alternate in Senin Canina.
Dancing every Monday and Friday except
October 11 (Friday) and October 14 (Monday).
Please note that these cancellations "bookend" the
same weekend.
