Hi, dancers,
The Orthodox Easter (on the Julian Calendar) is next Sunday, April 12, and, for
many of us, Easter (on the Gregorian Calendar) was last Sunday, so Tom
selected a dance for the season that features a symbol of Easter and spring, a rabbit.
This rabbit of the lyrics, "Kokorajko,Zajko," however, has wild and  crazy adventures,
unlike the symbolic Easter bunny.
Tom also led a dance in which the lyrics feature humane children for whom the
slaughter of a goat for Passover is not acceptable, so they free the goat, and it
lives on forever in the land of lyrics,

"Where now the little goat is jumping around in the field.

And has the pleasure from the sun and the whole world. "

The two dances are Arap (Macedonan) for which the Bulgarian dance Kulskoto has similar
steps, and Cintecul Iedului (Romanian Jewish). also known as Das Tighele or The Goat.
The song used, "Das lid funem tighele,"is about a little goat (Tshigale/Tighele), which is often
spelled"Das Tighele" or "Dos Tsigale," different transcriptions of the Yiddish name.

We've included links for both dances in the playlist.
.
Dancing next week on Monday, Aprl 13, and then it's Spring Break,
NO dancing.
Friday dancing is scheduled for April 10 and 17.
The remaining Friday, the 24th,  is to be determined.
