Hi,
I recently got a mail from a woman with a familiar sounding name (did I know her from Door Co Folk Fest?) that was an invitation to a folk dance party. The mail came from
mpsfolkdancing.com, which I'd never heard of (but maybe I did?). The mail was basically a sentence about a folk dance party - there are all kinds of zoom folk dance parties these days. And there were links for more information, blah blah, etc., maybe five links in all. It looked so normal.
The links, however, were bogus. They were all to the same place.
So somehow they knew I was a folk dancer, could create a bogus source for the email (
mpsfolkdancing.com) and come up with a familiar sounding name and an email message tailored for me. This is what AI can do now.
Everyone is always saying be cautious about emails, but this scam was at a new level (to me anyway). Now you have to be even more vigilant.
