Hi, dancers,
This week, Tom featured dances that were done at a
Sunday dance workshop in Ann Arbor that was taught by
Tom Roby. (Dances are marked with an asterisk in the playlist.)
A group of enthusiastic dancers enjoyed Silistrenka Tropanka,
originally taught to folk dancers by Yves Moreau (1948-2023)
who learned it in Dobrudza in Northern Bulgaria in 1971.
A Tropanka, or "stamping dance" is a traditional
dance from Dobrudza in "heavy" 2/4 time with stamping
and strong arm movements.
Dancing on the remaining Mondays and Fridays in
November, aka Glovember + Washcloths.
Except no dancing the 28th following Thanksgiving.
Glovember continues through December (schedule TBD).
December parties on the 19th and New Year's Eve.
