Hope you are well! I think by now you have moved on to your 3rd and 4th years?? very exciting. I also just finished my intern year at Brown's medicine program. Would love to hear from you all - feel free to contact me if you have any questions about applying, IM or anything else.

Please forward this message to the classes at BUSM about med student abstract competition - it's really not hard to do and great thing to put on your resume.

The ACP Massachusetts Chapter invites you to participate in the Annual Chapter Resident & Student Abstract Competitions.

This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your talents and to meet informally with colleagues from other resident programs and medical schools in the Commonwealth.  Other benefits include:

·        Opportunity to present your poster before a panel of MA ACP member judges.

·        Opportunity to present an oral presentation or a poster presentation at the chapter meeting,    
         November 3, 2012

·        Cash prizes & recognition

·        Travel grants to attend Internal Medicine 2013 in San Francisco, CA

·        Opportunity to participate in the national poster competition

·        Recognition on the Massachusetts Chapter Website

The submitted abstracts will be judged by a panel of ACP members.  From the submitted abstracts, the top abstracts will be invited to present an oral presentation at the MA ACP Annual Scientific Meeting on Saturday, November 3, 2012.

Other abstracts will be chosen to participate in the new“MA ACP Poster Day” to be held Saturday, October 27, 2012, a week prior to the MA ACP Annual Meeting.  There will be two poster judging sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.   All student abstracts selected will present during the morning session.  The top posters from the competition on October 27 will be asked to return to present at the MA ACP Annual Scientific Meeting on November 3, 2012.

** To participate in the abstract competition the first author must be a current Associate or Student Member of ACP in good standing and be available to present your poster for the judges on Saturday, October 27 and potentially for the attendees of the MA ACP Annual Scientific Meeting on Saturday, November 3.  To check on your membership status, please contact Chapter Administrator, Lynda Layer at lla...@mms.org.

Submit your abstract online via the Electronic Abstract Submission Form at http://www.acponline.org/about_acp/chapters/ma/abstract12.htm (now available)

 

 

The DEADLINE for submission is midnight on Saturday, September 1, 2012.

Each abstract will be ranked by scientific merit, originality, presentation and clinical application. The abstract selection is competitive and not all abstracts submitted will be selected for presentation. If you need any assistance developing an abstract, please refer to the Guide to Preparing for the Abstract Competition. We highly encourage you to submit early to ensure your abstract is received. You will receive an e-mail notification once your abstract has been successfully submitted. Please use your most used e-mail address when submitting the abstract. All communication regarding the abstract competition will be sent electronically.

The resident clinical vignette and research abstract winners which are selected for oral presentation at the chapter meeting will automatically be invited to present a poster at Internal Medicine 2013 in San Francisco, CA and the chapter will provide a travel grant.

Student abstracts will not be selected for oral presentation but the winner of the chapter meeting poster competition will also be automatically invited to present a poster at Internal Medicine 2013 in San Francisco, CA and the chapter will provide a travel grant.

In addition, cash prizes will be given for additional resident and student poster awards.
