OK, I've come back around to the idea of putting together a printrbot.
The low part count was the original attraction. But, reading
through it, I saw it used non-metric (SAE?) parts, and that put
me off a bit. Also, it just isn't that heavily documented as,
say, the Mendel.
As with the biodiesel stuff, I do like the immediate feedback of
buying some of the stuff locally, even if from a national chain.
Specifically, you can get threaded rod in various lengths at,
say, Home Depot. BUT, the threads on that are SAE, not metric.
So, I'm back to the printrbot.
Speaking of which, Alex, the friend for whom you printed up that
first set of printrbot parts: Did he ever get his printrobt
assembled? I remember you saying he tried to force a part and
broke something--did you print a replacement and send it to him?
Did he send you the hardware as was the deal (also, which
hardware?).
