The Medley Interlisp project has been meeting regularly (via Zoom) to help coordinate the ongoing efforts to restore and revive the Interlisp system on modern hardware, fixing bugs, modernizing some UI features, and also serve as an example of software preservation through emulation, especially for research software.
I think with the distribution of installers for common platforms, we've reached an inflection point and need to focus on communication. We're experimenting with splitting the meeting into two parts:
1) implementation discussions (Monday 2 PM Pacific) and
2) "External" topics (Wednesdays 10:30 AM Pacific) to focus our efforts on three topics:
a) History (papers, extensive bibliography of material ABOUT Interlisp but also systems developed withit, emulations of older versions)
b) Current medley (how to run Medley on various configurations, reference manuals, intro videos )
c)The Medley Interlisp Project itself: (who we are, what we've done, how can others participate, fundraising and donations, etc.)
Each meeting has an agenda, is recorded.. Most meetings we start with a "round table" where contributors have a chance to (briefly) announce progress or ask for help. Longer topics should be scheduled in the agenda in advance.
The main reason for splitting is that we've tended to deep-end on the technical parts and many have felt overwhelmed by the prior knowledge needed. Hopefully the meeting split will mitigate this problem.
We've been experimenting with Fathom, an AI meeting notetaker.
