All,

I wanted to let you know that my covid project has been a jQuery-free (and all other dependencies free) ground up rewrite of intercooler.  I have decided to rename this new project to kutty:

Reasons for the rename are:

  • I wanted the freedom to clean up mistakes and remove ideas that hadn't worked out as cleanly as I wanted
  • The JS in intercooler.js implied a javascript-orientation. The more I developed intercooler the more I realized that it was really about enhancing (completing?) HTML, not javascript. This project doesn't really compete with tools like angular, vue or react, it's something different, so I wanted a different name.
  • kutty is short and memorable, kutty.org was available, and it has consonance with "cuttlefish" which is the official cephalopod of kutty development.

The 0.0.1 release has just gone out:

I plan on continuing to support intercooler and will accept bug patches, but will be putting most of my new development effort into kutty.

Hope everyone is staying healthy and thanks for listening.

Cheers,
Carson

Hi Carson.

Interesting stuff. I consider intercooler to be quite complete. What features do you consider adding to kutty that are not in intercooler?

Thanks,
Anders

Carson,

Greetings and thank you both for your truly innovative work with Intercooler, and your continued efforts with kutty.  Simply powerful stuff, indeed!

And hot on the heels, another release and a un-re-rename back to htmx, the original project name:

Anders, I agrre: intercooler is very complete (maybe too  complete), I don't anticipate htmx will offer a ton more in functionality.  Rather it is a more pure implementation of the concept: it doesn't depend on jQuery, it will have fewer attributes, it won't try to replace javascript for everything (e.g. no 'ic-action' attribute) etc.

I am also hoping to make the infrastructure pluggable so kutty is more easily extended.

I guess, from a practical standpoint, the big thing though is that it is dependency free.  :)

Cheers,
Carson
