Hi all,

After Paul kicked me out of Atlanta, I boo-hooed my way all the way to Louisiana in one go...I am bedding down for the night at a Walmart near Monroe, LA

To Jeff, looks like I screwed up and I'll be passing your area on the Sabbath after all...so it looks like I will probably hit you on the trip back! You have been warned :)

I'm sorta in a hurry to hit Phoenix and points west, but I will be taking a more leisurely trip back
Eric

Keep me posted, and we'll keep the doors and windows barred ... <G>  Remember, the distance from Port Charles to El Paso is probably longer than the distance you covered on your first day.

Cheers!  Jeff

I did Meridian Ms to San Antonio in about 12-14 hours driving a Uhaul... WELL it was a LONG time ago!  I also remember that it took Jenny and I the better part of a day to go from El Paso to Fort Goodbuddy... but that was in my Mustang.
In any case... Drive safely!

I guess all that praying that you did for a Divine Wind to blow the invader off course really worked!!! I had to get off of I-20 about 30 miles east of Dallas and then I took farm roads and dirt roads the rest of the day...took me all damned day to get to Stephenville on 67...I didn't even make it to Abilene cuz of the winds..nearly lost my awning. Other RVs were parked for the day...but I trudged on...sometimes at 10 mph on those dirt roads...

Anyway, I camped at the Walmart in Stephen ville and Now I am between Abilene and El Paso..
Toodles,
ERic

Yeah, we had some hellacious winds around here.  Every time it gusted, you could hear the whole house creak and the joints pop.  I don't think houses are supposed to do that.  Then again, it's one of those houses where the wind comes through the gaps around the doors, and makes one those long, drawn out haunted house kind of moaning sounds all the time the wind is blowing.  But hey, we have indoor plumbing and electricity, so I won't complain too much.  <G>

I made it from Stephenville to Las Cruces today...no wind...average speed 60 mph...
Staying at an RV park just outside of Las Cruces.

Hi Jeff,

I accidentally deleted your message, so I'll answer here.
Yup, those howling winds were really something going through the tube that my awning wraps around...too weird...even after the awning was resecured and rolled up, the tube kept howling...it made for a great effect when I was going down those dirt roads, with the eerie light of my headlights on the bare trees....and the howling...the howling...the horror...the horror...

I really kept expecting to see the Chupacabra, or the Texan sasquatch...or just a big guy with a chainsaw....pretty creepy...

Hi Paul,

I'm at a place called Desert Vista in Mesa, AZ, which is a suburb of Phoenix. I'll be here 10 days, hanging out with some Russian friends.

Then back to Erie, by way of L.A. and Atlanta... haha
If the boats become a problem, just borrow a buddy's truck and throw them in a boat storage place, and save the bill for me...I saw places for only $25 a month on the way out and I thought, "Hell, I shouldn't have put that burden on Paul..." So, if find anything for less than $40, feel free to ditch the boats.

No worries, I am moving them tomorrow, and they will be outta sight and outta mind.
:)
be safe.

That grin makes me a little worried...where are you putting them? huh? huh?
Desert Vista is a nice RV park, good neighbors, but a little boring and expensive. I'm looking forward to going to L.A. and then back over your way by end of March...early April.

Eric,
Your boats are nice and safe... They are now backed in next to the porch by my air conditioning unit.  I have locked the hitch back up, and installed a cable lock between the wheel and the porch.  they are not going anywhere without a lot of effort.  If for some reason you need to grab them if no one is home, I have a key to the cable lock in the garage, and a key to the house in a combination lock box outside.  So no worries there either.  Have a great trip and a safe drive!

You are da man, Paul...
I should be back in your area around the first week of April.
I'm in a nice RV park right now, with a pool and a jacuzzi...life is rough.
I'll be in San Clemente State Beach RV park from the 16th to the 20th and then a few days at my sisters house south of L.A...then I should start trekking toward Atlanta around the 25th???
See ya then,
Eric
