I just got back from a trip to Thunder Bay to visit my parents for their 60th, and a side trip to visit my boys and some friends in Geraldton.  I wanted to share a couple of pictures I got this afternoon on the way home.   I've never been this close to one of these guys before, or for so long.  He just sat there for 10 minutes letting me take pictures from like 50 feet away.  Unbelievably beautiful.

Very cool...he was probably sizing you up for a snack :)

Or maybe he is one of the ones we released from captivity, so he's half tame.

I don't mind wolves, but I would probably kill a coyote on sight for what they have done to the fox population.

cool.. but Eric, I think our eagles were cooler! LOL.  I wish I had been able to get a picture of the bear that crossed in front of me driving up in the mountains, or the bob cat that ran across my yard.  alas, no proof.. just my word... and shut up Eric!

To Paul,

I read an article which claims that bad eagles are now TOO numerous and no longer on the endangered species list. In fact, they are terrorizing or "bullying" other bird species and are even killing off young cormorants and herons cuz they compete for fish...
It's time to kill off some bald eagles...the damned over-achieving conservationists have created a new problem.

Oh boy... kill the bald eagle?  next you will say that the flag is scaring people off and we should torch that too :)
We the people have upset the natural balance of nature, which makes it more difficult to have a sufficient number of prey/predatory animals.  I can cite several
examples of the introduction of non-native predators that are destroying the balance due to lack of predators that prey on them... IE the monitor in south florida
and that walking toothed fish (can't remember the name now) that was introduced to the potomac.  Not to mention africanized Bees and such.

To Eric... reference to taking my word :)

Well, okay, so we need to destroy the eagle's eggs...or freeze them...or whatever. I don't think we should actually go around shooting the eagles. But we need to trap them in areas where they are too numerous and move them to places where they are few in number. Erie has two pairs that I know of...and fewer herons than before..so...maybe I better tell the local bird experts to do something.

The fox population in Texas is still pretty healthy ... especially along the beaches and at the pools ... <G>
