Jim Starkey is leading the development of an open-source ODBC driver.
See Jim's report on the status of the ODBC driver.

Hi,
We (Easysoft) have a driver under development, we are not sure just what
licence it will be released under, we did start it some time ago, but paused
work on it after Jim announced his plans. I hope something will be ready in a
few weeks.

What would be usefull is a list of what people want to do with the
driver, I have it linking to libgds.so, and working under unixODBC. It
works with Applixware and Staroffice, but it would be nice to see what
other people are doing with it and on what platforms.
My thoughts was to get a beta out for people to play with on Linux,
while we work out what sort of licence it will be done under.

On Linux, I would be interested to use it with ColdFusion as we have a
project starting with that in a couple of months and it seams like Oracle is
are only real choice, but we would prefer Interbase.
On Windows, Crystal Reports and Business Objects seam to be a must. It
would also be handy for VB'ers looking to use a better database than
SQLServer.

Sounds good.
Cheers

Linux - ColdFusion
Windows NT/2000 - ColdFusion, Crystal Reports, MS Access, ASP, PowerBuilder
(yes, PB...), VB
That's all, just a small list.

Ok, thats the sort of thing we normally test drivers with anyway, so I know
what most of them expects :-)
As we have discussed elsewhere, I would like it to link to Cold Fusion
4.5 for LINUX (A best seller, I understand)
