I have the same error on Mandrake 7.2, the file /etc/hosts.equiv
contains only
"localhost", what should added? Do i have to add the whole name of my
computer,
for example chris.computer.nl or only chris?

I added the name of my pc (chris.computer.nl), rebooted but IB 6 gave
the same error.
Is there something else that should be added. I send the interbase.log
(found in /opt/interbase)
as attachment.

tar file.

Hi, i扉e got the same problem and still no solution.
The only thing i can say is that you can start the server with ibguard
and it runs.

try to start the server using

./ibguard &

instead of ./ibmgr -start

if you don't want to get error=111 :0

I think this works, but i think it should be done with the
ibmgr, why would they provide it anyway if no-one uses it?

Is there a way to start the IB server automatically when i
boot linux?
Chris

Most people I know of use it, it seems to be a RedHat 7.0 specific
flaw. Seems that root isn't allowed there to use r commands
per default.

try man hosts.equiv and see whether this will help you.

Try
ibmgr -start -forever -user SYSDBA -password $IB_PASSWORD
and/or use a non-root account to start ibmgr

Create a start script in sbin/init.d as for the other services.
man init.d
man init
