Hello, Intention community! We hope you are having a wonderful fall! You may be wondering if Winter Intention will be happening this year. This is the update you have been looking for.
Unfortunately, circumstances are making it impossible for us to hold Winter Intention at our usual venue over this coming New Year. This is not a permanent change, but applies to NYE 2022-23. We could possibly plan to have this year's Winter Intention over the February Family Day long weekend (February 16/17 to 20, 2023).
Camp Elphinstone has also raised their prices significantly, so we would need to raise ticket prices accordingly, since we already keep our attendance prices as low as possible and just enough to cover the costs of the event.
We are obviously conflicted about whether an event can happen in a good way under these circumstances and would like to get some feedback from the community.
An option we are looking at would be to have a shorter event for a lower cost on the Family Day long weekend. Since almost all of our costs are the venue itself (including accommodation and meals), having a two or three night event instead of four nights could reduce the ticket price noticeably.
We would appreciate it if you could take a moment to fill out this survey both in regards to a February event and the following New Year.

an update regarding future Intention Gathering events
Hello Intention community
We are sad to report that after extensive deliberation, Intention organizers have decided NOT to do a February 2023 event.
While a number of you expressed interest in attending via the survey, the sample size was too small to gauge whether or not we had enough people attending to make it possible.
Costs have gone up significantly and we felt many people financially could not justify/afford the cost at that time of year.
Additionally, many of the experienced organizers were busy and could not commit at this time.
There were other factors in our decision, but these were the main ones. We understand and share your disappointment. This decision was not made lightly.
The good news!
We are actively seeking to revive the Intention Community in the coming year through community events, including:
POTLUCKS: The organizers would appreciate hearing from anyone interested in hosting a potluck or potluck/dance party to keep the community connected. Please fill out this form http://intentiongathering.org/potluck_host or else contact potl...@intentiongathering.org if you have questions.
IN-TOWN EVENTS: Our hope (with enough volunteers) is to organize a one-night dance event in Vancouver, in Winter of 2023 (Jan/Feb/Mar). Similar to previous Intention fun-raisers (eg: Moonlight Carnivale, Breadcrumbs and Bass, and Intention Circus Sideshow Extravaganza), we hope to have a dance event with workshops to start. A lot depends on how many people step forward to help organize/contribute. If you have any leads on venues that could hold this event, please let us know!
SUMMER INTENTION (2023) / WINTER INTENTION (2023/24): We are actively working on securing the usual venues both for Summer Intention (sometime in Summer 2023) and Winter Intention (over the 2023/2024 NYE.)

We had some suggestions and concerns given in the comment section of the survey. Please be aware that the survey was anonymous, so we are not able to reply to people individually. We will be preparing a public response to address some of the questions and suggestions.

Save the date! Intention Gathering will be doing a one-night event (in Vancouver) on March 25, 2023, our first event in almost three years!
There will be DJ's and dancing for sure, possibly workshops or some other activity happening early evening. The venue is in the Mount Pleasant area (Vancouver), and the date is secured. Theme and DJ lineup are still TBD and there is no facebook event page yet. This will be similar to the "funraisers" that Intention has done in the past, at bottom of this post is a list of some of them, to give you an idea. (as per our previous funraisers, any funds raised at the event go into the "subsidy fund" which pays for a number of subsidized cheaper tickets to our larger multi-day events).
