SPCA( Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals) needs people to come out & help in kind, to revamp this organisation from its pathetic condition.
Given below is the list of our genuine requirements and u may sponsor whatever suits you. Pl do visit our campus at Bhavani peth opp Poona college and help us to help the unfortunate animals on the street. We help dogs, cats, birds, cows, donkeys, goats. We run a OPD which treats owned animals for a small fee. If this interests you then pl do contact me.
Makeover plans for SPCA Pune, with schedule for the facelift program.
1. May.’ 09 Dogs de wormed, anti rabies shots and tagging of shelter dogs. Task not complete, 23 dogs given anti rabies shots, 45 dogs have been de wormed and 65 dogs have been collared with metal disc numbering. Preeti Nagarmath has sponsored the collars and metal tags. I (devika Mundkur)have sponsored the anti rabies and deworming.
2. June ‘09. Staff to be provided with uniforms, gumboots, gloves, soaps. Each staff member will be given two sets,and 6 members will avail this facility before the 15th of June. The uniforms have already gone for stitching. (My brother in law Nitin Burde has sponsored this.)
2a. Campus cleaning & clearing drive, reorganizing shelter
space with a special touch to the ‘Puppy Niketan. Puppies will be given toys, chewies and comfortable cozy nooks to sleep and a happy play pen with pebbled sand. Cost has been found out, the rough grade sand is Rs. 750 per small load will need at least 6 loads. Hope we can find sponsors to this too.
2c. Tree planting drive, all trustees must be involved in this program. Pits to be dug and 20 saplings to be planted. Any sponsors? Saplings would be Rs. 10 each, digging pits manure soil would totally cost about Rs. 5o each. Sponsors?
One area will be very shady and another kept open for good sunshine. Couple of trucks of clean rubble would help to disinfect the area which the dogs use for relieving themselves. Any one who can do this? Sponsors?
3. July 09 The Cattery gets all the attention this month, baskets, toys, chewies, arrange for more sunshine inside the catery, cat food, any cat lovers?
3a. SPCA Office needs to have a more positive look, potted plants, a coat of paint, Old cabinets cupboards would be welcome. Any sponsor for this?
4. August: Large cement rectangular troughs filled with clean water to be placed at vantage points in the campus. These are unbreakable and the job becomes easier as small water containers are spilt over. These would cost about Rs 250 each 6 pcs would be perfect. Anyone who would like to sponsor this.?
4a. The operation theatre needs a complete make over . Presently there is no running water here. From structuring a water tank, plumbing, basins, exhaust fans, painting, surgical table, we need it all will be grateful for part or complete sponsorship installing new windows, cabinets etc. We have the ABC (animal birth control) here our surgeons operate on dogs & other animals under very primitive conditions.
