Dear all,
Welcome to the July 2024 updates of the Intelligence Studies Network. We're very excited to announce the following updates and improvements.
Firstly, the database has reached over 7,100 publications, with 273 new sources added in June. The website now has a new collection for 'Private-sector intelligence'.
Home Page: The home page is now faster than before in switching between search options.
New visuals on the database dashboard: You will see the following additional visuals on the dashboard tab.
Single vs Multiple authored publications: This section features a line chart showing the ratio of co-authored to single-authored outputs over the last 20 years. Additionally, a pie chart provides a breakdown of all outputs by authorship type.
Publications by open access status: Open access is a growing trend in academia thanks to read & publish agreements and increasing number of institutional repositories. This section displays the open access status of publications in the database. Please note that not all items in the database have open access status measurements. The data for article open access statuses comes fromOpenAlex.
Publications by citation status: This section includes visuals displaying the ratio and number of citations, both in total and over time. It also features charts that illustrate the relationship between open access status and the number of citations for articles. Citation data comes through OpenAlex.
More metrics: In addition to the number of research outputs and citations, additional metrics are now available on the main page and other sub-collection and search option pages. These include citation average, open access coverage, and author-collaboration ratio.
Bibliographic view: You can now view items in a table format or a bibliographic format, in addition to the basic view. To switch to these views, visit the 'Filters and More' tab and select your preferred option.
Thesis types and institution: Theses under the 'Publication types' search option now display thesis types (PhD, MPhil, Master's, and Undergraduate) and affiliated institutions. You can find this option under 'Filters and more'.
Top themes: The home page search options now feature a "Top Themes" section in dashboards. This section highlights the most relevant collections for your searched item, author, journal, or publication type (see the following example for theses in the database).
As always, please share the database and this email with others. We hope to keep you updated in the next release.
