hey guys, just a minute ago i received an email, some1 commented on
the L4D video game play, and they gave a small step to remove the lag
when shooting....i haven't actually tried it YET, as i don't have L4D :
( but for those of u who have it...this may help:

(G4pcta has made a comment on Left 4 Dead Gameplay on Intel 950
(945GM) Win7 MD:

to remove the lag that comes while shooting open console and write
"Sv_cheats 1" and then
write "r_flashlightmuzzleflashfov 0"
no lag while shooting)

so anybody out there wanna give this a shot? please do let us know if
this code is a success or not :)

I can see how this would work as all source games use high quality lighting effects on muzzle flash which means the gpu has to draw this high quality lighting on every surface around it for every frame which as you can imagine is both cpu and gpu intensive.

Hmm I heard of his tweak somewhere but I don't think I actually tried
it. However this tweak would work pretty nicely, especially playing on
cs_office, the only lag was with the muzzle flash prety much

am getting L4D as i speak...already @ 90% so am gonna give this a try,
as i did more search, and found that it actually does disable the
muzzle flash...since i can actually play with the light on, and no lag
at all...i don't actually care for a small flash of light...lol, i'll
report in abt an hour or so...do u think this'll work on L4D2 as well
(that is if the game actually starts)

It should work for any source game I would imagine, although keep in mind that l4d2 is more gpu intensive than l4d because of higher quality textures, meshes and effects. Also apparently the AI Scripting has been improved and built apon which will require more cpu power than before.

yea, of course it will turn of yout muzzle fire light, but with no
flashlight, we'd be left with no light source in some places... and
besides, for reality sakes, i prefer the muzzle on, it only lags in
open spaces anyway...

BTW CHECK MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL (PAVAPIZZA27) I JUST UPLOADED MY L4D VID,
WHICH USES MY OWN MODDIFIED KAIZENS CONFIG.... INDOORS up to 40 fps,
open spaces, never below 15 fps...

mob attack starts...

But do you still experience the "everything is bright" bug?

one thing is that your playing it on the x3100 so that is a HUGE
advantage, thats why u can shoot while your flashlight is turned on :D
as for me (950 user)..the only lag am getting is when am under heavy
attacks especially in open areas the FPS drops to 15 (which is a big
drop) i tried using Kaizen's config file, and even the exe command
lines, nothing worked...and i don't get the "over bright" thingy
anymore...can see everything clear and with the shooting lag gone, i
can finally enjoy the game a little :)
