Because it seems that everything you do requires a different codec to play,
I was wondering;
When you install several codecs one after another, do they overwrite
previous codec installs or do they all sit there seperately and the needed
one is called up and used. I don't want to gum up the works by installing
too many.
Better yet, is there a 'do it all codec' that can be installed to cover all
the bases?

TIA

I believe the the latter is correct; the correct CODEC is used based upon
the type of file being accessed.

For more info on CODECs see
http://www.techweb.com/encyclopedia/defineterm?term=codec. I don't think
we'll ever see a "do it all codec" unless everyone can agree upon a single
compression method.
