The IVIX project was delayed for a while, but has recently been
revived. We demonstrated a new, updated Beta II version of the product
at the Macromedia Users Conference this month. We anticipate making this

new Beta II version available on the Web site in the November/December
time frame.

It seems like Director users have been waiting a long time for this xtra, I remember seeing the notice that "it will be available soon" for many months.
Intel usually has fantastic communication...so what's the story? how about an update? Did you guys scrap the idea?

How about one for all us other users by supplying an mci (style / addon) interface which will allow access to the IVI features. Why pick on Macromedia products?
Why not do a generic open access driver first, then specific pet projects ?

Is there a problem with this?

I think this is a case of the squeaky wheel getting the grease. Director
programmers have been screaming about this for a while.

Honestly, though, an MCI driver to handle Indeo AVI files would be a great
idea, and would be very simple to write (I just wrote a similar thing).
You'd have to rename the files to something other than AVI unless you wanted
to replace the AVI driver altogether.

How 'bout it, Intel?

Hi Tim, it appears you pop up in all over the place! I'll definiately be in touch re your other email.

It does appear that Intel ARE giving Director users and Macromedia in general a distinct commercial advantage over others by developing a tool which is *specific* to them when the tool could have been made generic. Why?

Cheers

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate any and all suggestions you
may have regarding further development of Indeo(R) video technology. We
take these suggestions very seriously and will continue to strive to
deliver the products and technologies that are most important to our

What happen with this? Intel offered a release by late November early December 1997. It's already 1998!
