I have the 815e chipset (on an Abit SE6 mobo) Iam using a 256 MB stick of NEC PC133 RAM... Only recognizes 128 MB... I understand that the 815e is advertised as being able to recognize a 256 stick, but no brand is consistently recognized... What do I need to do to get it recognized? Will it require a new INF? If so, when will it be available? I've mailed my resller, Abit and Intel, posted on the newsgroups and can't get an answer... Intel and Abit refuse to even reply to my mail...

Hi Bill,

I take it you are using PC133 CL2 memory... most of the single stick
PC133 CL2 memory modules are very unstable in the i815E motherboards.
The problem is the memory chips are just too slow and when stacked
in parallel they tend to slow each other down. For some reason TWO
separate sticks of PC133 CL2 memory have had better success in the i815E
mobos.

If you need more memory than 256MB then you will want to use PC100 CL2
memory modules to insure a stable system.

Thanks Hans, but I'm running the memory at 100 rather than 133... That should be at least as good as using pc100 shouldn't it?

Hi Bill,

What is the speed and FSB of your processor?
